On Tuesday 27 May 2025, a festive moment was celebrated at the Trees for All office in Utrecht: the presentation of a cheque on behalf of the National Climbing Woods Day. This annual day, which took place on 5 April this year, was already in its third edition. Eleven climbing forests in the Netherlands not only celebrated the beauty of climbing in nature, but also made a joint commitment to a greener world.
As in previous editions, the focus was on sustainability and money was raised for the charity Trees for All. Thanks to the efforts of the participating climbing locations and their visitors, they managed to raise a nice amount. The proceeds of 2025 are even higher than last year's, which means that even more impact can be made this year.
"Besides our enthusiasm about Climbing Forests and the wooded areas we get to use, we think it's important to give something back to nature. That we can realise this during National Climbing Forest Day together with our climbers makes it extra special." said Simone Dijkhuis of Klimbos Netherlands.
With the donation collected, more than 330 trees can be planted. Sira Bongers of Trees for All stresses the importance of such partnerships:
"Trees for All is committed to a forested world worldwide. But we can only do that thanks to the support of partners like National Climbing Forest Day. It is wonderful to see how climbing venues involve their visitors in greening our environment. In this way, together we increase the forest area and create more awareness about the importance of trees."
The donation will be used for forest restoration in Peel and Maas (Limburg, Netherlands) and a new dune forest in Vietnam, making a concrete contribution to restoring and expanding forest areas.
