Enjoying nature, experiencing the forest in a unique way. But how do you prepare, what do you wear, for example? And what else should you take into account?
Of course, you already get a lot of information following your booking at the Klimbos. But there are more things you can still do or take into account.
The following tips will help you climb through the trees easily and smoothly.
Make sure you have good shoes and clothing
However tempting, do not choose trainers with smooth soles. All the elements in the forest are made of wood and this is where you want to be able to stand firmly and not accidentally slip. So go for shoes that have a good tread.
Always check the weather forecast too. In the Netherlands, rain is part and parcel, but a mackintosh or water-repellent jacket will make climbing a bit more comfortable. We also recommend choosing clothes from which you can take off layers. So not too hot and not too cold. It can also be nice to put on an extra layer after climbing, as it is a strenuous activity and you cool down quickly afterwards.
If you take off a layer of clothing between climbing routes, do have your climbing harness double-checked.
Be on time
An open door, but make sure you get to the forest on time. Preferably 15 minutes before your instruction starts. This will give you plenty of time to put your things away and go to the toilet if necessary. You can also look at the map and think of your plan for climbing.
The don'ts:
- Wear long hair loose. Like your hair in a low bun or ponytail. Forgotten a rubber band? No problem, we always have some in stock.
- Loose scarves. These can get caught in the routes, so make sure your scarf is in your locker.
- Bring materials and products into the climbing routes that are not fixed. These can fall. Not handy! There are free lockers at all venues where you can store your own belongings. If you want to take photos/videos while climbing, make sure you have a phone lanyard with which you can secure your phone
But of course, what we want most of all is for you to ENJOY! So come to the forest and experience what it's like to climb the metres up, go over obstacles and float from tree to tree on a zipline.
