Klimbos Apeldoorn: the climbing forest on the Veluwe

23 September 2025

In the middle of the Veluwe, surrounded by beautiful nature, you will find Klimbos Apeldoorn: a place where adventure, challenge and fun for young and old come together.

The climbing forest

At Klimbos Apeldoorn, you will find no fewer than 10 climbing routes that will take you up to 22 metres high! For everyone from 6 years of age and with a minimum height of 1.20 metres, there are the 4 orange routes. Here you climb through barrels, balance on cables and clamber along nets. A great adventure for young and old.

Are you taller than 1.40 metres? Then you can choose from 6 additional routes, structured like ski runs: from blue (easy) to black (very challenging). The higher the colour intensity, the more challenging the route and the more spectacular the views. For real daredevils, there is also the bungee and free fall. The ultimate kick for adventurers!

After an afternoon of climbing in Apeldoorn, you must have gotten hungry. Fortunately, Klimbos Apeldoorn has its own kiosk where you can go for a sandwich, ice cream or a nice cup of coffee and muffin. So you can recharge yourself for even more fun.

Day out

Want to make a whole day out of it? Then combine the climbing forest with these fun outings in Apeldoorn:

Right next to the Klimbos you will find the playground. A large playground with offerings for all children. So are the kids too young to climb or not yet daring? Then they can let loose in the playground!
  • Restaurant de Boschvijver

When is the climbing forest open?

Our current opening hours can be found at www.klimbos.nl/openingstijden

Do you need to book in advance?

It is not compulsory, but we definitely recommend it! By making a reservation, you are guaranteed a climbing spot. As we work with a limited number of starting spots per instruction, if you do not make a reservation, you may have to wait until the next round of instruction.

How long does a climbing roe last?

A visit to the climbing forest lasts 3 hours. You start with a safety instruction of about 30 minutes and then you can climb independently for another 2.5 hours.

How safe is the climbing forest?

Super safe! We work with a continuous safety system. This means that you secure yourself at the start of a climbing route and can only release yourself at the end. In addition, your climbing outing starts with a compulsory safety instruction, where we teach you everything you need to know about climbing.

Should you wear sportswear?

No, you can just come and climb in your "normal" clothes. Just make sure you can move around comfortably in your outfit and that you wear closed shoes.

Choose a location

Each of the locations is unique, but one thing they have in common is the beautiful surroundings.

All our climbing forests are located in real forests, where we do not use climbing poles. This gives you the best climbing experience! We build and maintain the routes ourselves and they are inspected externally for safety. Our staff is trained to give safety instructions and to give you the best experience.
