Located in the surprisingly versatile Achterhoek, in the beautiful Ruurlose woods, you will find Klimbos Ruurlo. The largest and highest climbing forest in the Achterhoek! Clamber through barrels, zipline through the trees or climb to great heights. Challenge and fun for young and old!
The climbing forest
At Klimbos Ruurlo, you will find no fewer than 9 climbing routes that will take you up to 20 metres high! This makes it the highest climbing forest in the Achterhoek! For everyone from 6 years of age and with a minimum height of 1.20 metres, there are the 3 orange routes. Here you climb through barrels, balance on cables and clamber along nets. A great adventure for young and old.
Are you taller than 1.40 metres? Then you can choose from 6 additional routes, structured like ski runs: from blue (easy) to black (very challenging). The higher the colour intensity, the more challenging the route and the more spectacular the views. For daredevils, there is also a bungee and free fall. Do you dare?
Day out
Want to make a whole day out of it? Then combine the climbing forest with these fun outings at the climbing forest:
- The Heikamp
'Getting out and about' becomes surprisingly fun at The Heikamp. At this restaurant, on the edge of the beautiful Ruurlo woods and located next to the well-known Doolhof Ruurlo, there is especially much to discover. Of course the very tastiest award-winning pancakes in the Netherlands, baked with home-grown grain. Definitely worth tasting! - Gnome trail
Put on your red pointed hat and join Wouter Kabouter! The gnome trail for children from 2 to 6 years starts at restaurant de Heikamp and is about 1.5 kilometres long. Wooden posts in the shape of gnomes show the way. Along the way, children can play all kinds of games and learn all kinds of things about nature. And about gnomes, of course! - Love Path
A beautiful hiking trail of 5 kilometres that passes all kinds of experiences in Ruurlo. The Baakse Beek, Museum More, Klimbos Ruurlo and the Heikamp. At various places along the path are loveseats, artistic benches that express love for the place or a theme. Think love for each other, for the water, for art or for food. - Maze
"Those who want to wander in greenery should do it in this maze". This inviting text reads above the entrance gate of the old maze (from 1891!). Only 300 metres away from the Klimbos. Can you find your way through the largest hedge maze in the Netherlands? Step in quickly and wander around the paths with a total length of no less than 1,188 metres!

It is not compulsory, but we definitely recommend it! By making a reservation, you are guaranteed a climbing spot. As we work with a limited number of starting spots per instruction, if you do not make a reservation, you may have to wait until the next round of instruction.
A visit to the climbing forest lasts 3 hours. You start with a safety instruction of about 30 minutes and then you can climb independently for another 2.5 hours.
Super safe! We work with a continuous safety system. This means that you secure yourself at the start of a climbing route and can only release yourself at the end. In addition, your climbing outing starts with a compulsory safety instruction, where we teach you everything you need to know about climbing.
No, you can just come and climb in your "normal" clothes. Just make sure you can move around comfortably in your outfit and that you wear closed shoes.
