Is climbing in a climbing forest safe for children and adults? At Klimbos Netherlands, safety is always number one. With certified equipment, experienced instructors and a continuous fuse system, visitors can enjoy their climbing adventure carefree. This article explains the safety measures we take and what you can do yourself to ensure a safe experience.
Professional security system and certified materials
All Klimbos locations of Klimbos Netherlands work with a continuous securing system. This means that climbers are always attached to the lifeline from the moment they enter a course until the end.
The climbing equipment you receive includes:
- Periodically controlled climbing harness: Adapts to every body and is well controlled. There are also different belts for different bodies and comfort.
- Continuous fuse system: a smart system that ensures you can never be separated from the fuse line in the routes
Before each visit, you will receive a comprehensive safety instruction lasting about 30 minutes. Experienced instructors will demonstrate the fuse system and let you practice on the demo course. They remain available for questions and supervise the site.
Safety rules and standards of behaviour in the climbing forest
In addition to technical security, there are rules of conduct that contribute to everyone's safety:
Mandatory rules:
- No alcohol or drugs before or during climbing
- Phones and loose objects in lockers or zip-lock bags. Phones are allowed on the route, provided they are secured with a lanyard
- Long hair in a low ponytail or bun, no scarves or loose clothing
- Sturdy (sports) shoes, no flip-flops or sandals
When will the climbing forest be closed?
In case of thunderstorms or very strong winds, some routes are temporarily closed. The safety of visitors always comes first. In light rain, the forest remains open - climbing in the rain is just an extra adventure! Don't worry, we constantly monitor weather conditions.
Medical conditions and physical fitness
Are you pregnant, have heart problems, epilepsy or had recent operations? If so, always consult your doctor first. Climbing requires basic fitness and a sense of balance. If in doubt, instructors can advise on site whether certain routes are suitable.
