Athletics club AV Sprint's annual team activity got an adventurous twist this year. Instead of a track training session or a joint run through the city, the group headed to Klimbos Dordrecht for an afternoon full of challenge, teamwork and fun. Among the trees of the Biesbosch recreation area, young and old took to the heights to tackle various climbing routes together. For many members, it was their first time visiting a climbing forest, but healthy nerves soon turned into enthusiasm.
What made the outing at Klimbos Dordrecht so enjoyable for the athletics club was the combination of sportiness and teamwork. The fast zip lines, wobbly bridges, and challenging obstacles demanded not only fitness but also trust and perseverance. Qualities that perfectly align with the mentality of an athletics club. While the younger members immediately wanted to try the most difficult routes, others calmly took their time to climb higher step by step. Thanks to the clear explanations and safe systems, everyone quickly felt at ease.
“Normally we challenge each other on speed and endurance, but here it was suddenly about courage and teamwork,” explains coach Denise enthusiastically. “It was great to see how everyone helped and encouraged each other at height. Even members who found it exciting eventually left their routes with pride.” The long zipline over the water, in particular, proved to be a favourite within the group and generated a lot of enthusiasm and hilarious moments.
Afterwards, there was a joint debrief with a drink, while experiences and the most thrilling moments were shared. For AV Sprint, the trip to Klimbos Dordrecht was more than just a sporting activity; it also strengthened the team spirit within the club. The combination of outdoor sports, cooperation, and having fun in nature made it a successful day for all ages.
