Planning your Klimbos visit and the weather app predicts rain or wind? No worries! The climbing forest remains open in almost all weather conditions. With the right clothes and preparation, your visit will be a success, whether it's raining, windy or sunny. This article provides practical tips for every season and type of weather.
Climbing in the rain: wet but no less fun
Will the climbing forest continue if it rains?
Yes, rain is no problem at all. The forest offers natural shelter through its foliage. Only during thunderstorms or extremely strong winds are the routes temporarily closed for safety reasons.
Smart tips for climbing in the rain:
- Wear a light mackintosh or softshell that is not obstructive
- Choose clothes that dry quickly (no jeans or heavy cotton jumpers)
- Bring a set of dry clothes to change into afterwards
- Extra towel in the car is always handy
- Water-resistant hiking boots offer better grip than regular trainers
The advantage of rain? Less crowds, extra adventurous atmosphere and kids often actually enjoy going through the elements more!
Climbing in summer: protection from sun and heat
In hot and sunny weather, other preparations are important:
Sun protection:
- Apply sunscreen factor 30 or higher (before and during climbing)
- Cap or bandana protects your head

- You are not allowed to take water bottle into the course, but you can take breaks on the ground
- Small snacks provide energy (bananas, energy bars, nuts)
- Avoid heavy meals just before climbing
Climbing in autumn and winter: warmth and grip
Clothing advice for cold days:
- Layer system: thermal clothing under your shirt, fleece or softshell over it
- Thin gloves
- Hat
- No thick winter coats - you will move and get warm!
