From February to November, thousands of climbers experience a great day out in our forests. But what actually happens in winter, when the climbing forests are closed?
At Klimbos Netherlands, we are not sitting still during the winter closure. Behind the scenes, we are working hard to prepare everything for a new, adventurous season full of climbing fun.
Maintenance and renewal of climbing routes
During the winter shutdown, our builders are hard at work.
They maintain and renew the climbing routes, replace parts in need of refreshment and even develop completely new elements.
This is hard work, but the result is worth it: a safe, challenging and renovated climbing forest for our visitors to fully enjoy in spring.
And this year, we are not only working on our existing locations, the construction of Klimbos Assen should also be completed this winter. From an empty forest to a climbing site with no less than 7 climbing routes, that's a big job!
Improvements in the back office
The winter period is also the time for our back office to get the climbing forest ready behind the scenes.
We are working on improvements in the booking system, adjusting opening hours and prices, and developing new packages together with our partners.
This is how we make booking an adventure in the climbing forest even easier.
New year, new promotional material
Every year, we release new printed materials: from leaflets and posters to signs in the forests.
When routes are adjusted, we also adjust our maps and signage.
This way, everything is right again in every detail and our guests get a clear and fresh experience.
New actions and collaborations
Winter is the perfect time to set up new promotions and collaborations.
We work with partners to develop fun packages and discounts to offer our guests the best and most complete getaway in nature.

During winter, weather conditions are often unpredictable and it is not always safe to climb. Moreover, we use this period to carry out maintenance on the routes and prepare the forest for the new season.
