Climbing along is not compulsory!

The short answer is no. Climbing along is not compulsory. But climbing with us is great fun! Children from 6 years of age and with a minimum height of 1.20m may come climbing independently.

Tips for a good choice

How do you decide whether to climb along? Ask yourself the following:

About your child:

  • How independent is my child?
  • Does he/she need me for support?
  • Is this your first time climbing forest?
  • Which routes does he/she want to do?

About yourself:

  • Would I like to climb myself?
  • Can I physically climb?
  • Am I afraid of heights?
  • Is budget an issue?

Practical:

  • How many children do I have with me?
  • Can I accompany them all?
  • Are there other adults along?

Frequently asked questions about climbing

Isn't it dangerous when children climb alone?

No, with the safety instruction, supervision and safety system, it is safe.

Can children really operate the fuse system themselves?

Yes - from 6/7 years old, they learn this in instruction. The system is simple and safe.

What if my child gets scared halfway through?

The instructor helps from the ground with coaching. Should this really fail, an intervention can be initiated to take the child out of the route.

Conclusion: your choice!

Do you have to climb along as an adult? No, it is not an obligation! Children from 6 years and 1.20m can climb independently with a junior ticket in the junior routes. From 1.40m, they have access to all routes with a regular ticket. Professional instructors supervise and ensure safety. At the highest routes (red/black), it is recommended to climb with them for extra support, but this is not an obligation. Whether you decide to climb along for a shared experience or prefer to encourage from the ground: both choices are fine! You decide what suits your child, yourself and your situation.
