Across the country, climbing forests open their 'doors' and call attention to a forested world
The end of winter is approaching again. The temperature is slowly rising and the days are getting longer and lighter. Time to get outside, into nature! On Saturday 23 March, the second edition of National Climbing Forest Day will take place. Most climbing forests are open again from the end of February. Therefore, National Climbing Fox Day is a great moment to usher in the climbing season together and in a festive way. On this special day, Dutch climbing forests call on everyone, young and old, to enjoy the forest. In addition, National Climbing Fox Day calls attention to nature. You can have an adventure in the climbing forest and contribute to a more forested world at a reduced rate on National Climbing Fox Day.
Outdoor adventure
The first edition of the National Climbing Woods Day was launched in 2023 with the aim of letting more people experience the benefits of nature in a unique, playful way, as well as drawing attention to the preservation and importance of forests. A wooded environment reduces stimuli and the extra oxygen the trees produce boosts our immune system: stress hormones are reduced and happiness hormones are released. Combined with a sporting activity such as climbing and ziplining in the climbing forest, this nature boost amplified. "We are proud that so many climbing forests joined the second edition of the National Climbing Forest Day. That shows that we all have a love for nature and outdoor exercise. How cool is it to be able to share that with all the enthusiasts in the forest?" said Simone Dijkhuis, marketing manager at Klimbos Nederland.
Give the forest a hand: tree by tree
With 16 affiliated climbing forest locations spread throughout the Netherlands, National Climbing Day offers plenty of sportsmanship and exercise in the Netherlands' many forests. Besides offering a fun outing, the climbing forests and visitors also help nature with their climbing adventure. For every ticket sold, 1 euro is donated to Trees for All, which is used to plant trees in areas where they are badly needed. Ronnie Werner, marketing manager at Fun Forest, on the cooperation: "With the National Climbing Forest Day on 23 March, we hope to attract more people into nature through play. We believe that enjoying nature is very important, so of course we should also take good care of it! Together with Trees for All, we are committed to a wooded world. Trees for All plants trees in the Netherlands and abroad through various forest projects. Like us, they also try to make people aware of the importance of trees. Together, we look forward to a great National Climbing Forest Day!"
