We do know that the Klimbos is the most challenging outing for young and old alike. And we also know that our locations all have something super cool and worth visiting!
Our five beautiful locations - Klimbos Apeldoorn, Klimbos Bergen op Zoom, Klimbos Dordrecht, Klimbos Lage Vuursche and Klimbos Ruurlo - each have their own unique challenges and highlights. Whether you are young or old, beginner or seasoned climber: there is a challenge for everyone!
We often get the question: What is the tallest climbing forest? What is the biggest climbing forest? And which climbing forest is actually the most fun? In this article, we give you a handy overview so you know exactly which climbing forest to choose.
The highest Klimbos in the Netherlands can be found in Lage Vuursche. Here you climb the spectacular black route that is no less than 23 metres high! Klimbos Apeldoorn (22 metres) and Klimbos Ruurlo (20 metres) also offer challenging black routes that are almost as high. For adventurers who are not afraid of heights, these are the ultimate climbing experiences!
Looking at the number of climbing routes, Klimbos Lage Vuursche is the largest climbing forest. You will find 11 challenging routes, 5 of which are especially for children and 6 regular routes.
- Klimbos Apeldoorn and Klimbos Bergen op Zoom follow with 10 routes each (4 junior and 6 regular).
- Klimbos Ruurlo has 9 routes (3 junior and 6 regular).
- Klimbos Dordrecht offers 7 routes (3 junior and 4 regular) and is also located in the middle of the beautiful nature of National Park De Biesbosch.
We often get the question: "What is the most fun climbing forest?" The honest answer is that each climbing forest has its own charm and unique elements. We love them all!
- Klimbos Dordrecht may have the fewest routes, but it is a forest that has a unique zip line/zipline over the beverplas! Great to zipline over the water from the forest and then back into the forest.
- At Klimbos Ruurlo, you can literally look over the treetops in the black route, a unique view of the Achterhoek.
- Klimbos Bergen op Zoom is in a public forest and there routes even cross the cycle path, an amazing sight.
- At Klimbos Apeldoorn, the routes also go outside our grounds, which gives a cool feeling. There is also a long transition with hanging beams from where you can look over Park Berg en Bos.
- Finally, Klimbos Lage Vuursche, where the brown (zip line) route goes over a large pit next to the forest. This is the longest zip line in the forest.
Of course, this is an easy question! Climbing in the Klimbos provides energy, adventure and lots of fresh air. You are active in the open air, overcome fears and create memories for life! Extra fun is that it is an activity for both young and old, so everyone can come and climb!
