Many parents ask the same question: May my child go to the adventure park already? The answer isn't as simple as a number, as a treetop adventure park doesn't just depend on age, but also on height, motor skills, and confidence. Fortunately, most treetop adventure parks offer routes for all levels. In this article, you'll read exactly what to consider when planning climbing with young children.
When people think of adventure parks for children, many parents immediately consider a minimum age, but that's only one piece of the puzzle. Climbing requires coordination, strength, and balance; children who enjoy scrambling around on playgrounds are already well on their way. Furthermore, a child must be able to follow instructions and understand how the safety system works, which most children can manage from around 7 or 8 years old. Equally important is self-confidence: a child who easily panics at heights will have little enjoyment, no matter how good their motor skills are. In such cases, simply start low and build up gradually.
At our adventure parks, we have a minimum age of 6 years old, combined with a minimum height of 1.20m. Everyone can start on the orange routes in the junior forest; these have a lower belay height and are also not as high. Once children are at least 1.40m, they are also permitted to climb the higher (regular) routes. An accompanying adult is not required, but it is often recommended to climb along with the younger children, in particular.
At a quiet time (during the week or early in the morning), ensure your child takes the safety instructions seriously and always start at the lowest level. This builds confidence and prevents them from getting stuck halfway. Never force them: a negative experience has a much longer-lasting effect than skipping a route. Also, don't forget to bring closed shoes and comfortable clothing.
Yes, everyone can and is allowed to climb independently. However, an adult must be present in the woods.
That's perfectly normal. Start on a low, manageable route and let your child go at their own pace. Many children discover after a few obstacles that they are braver than they thought.
Certainly, provided they both meet the age and height requirements for the route. Choose a trail that they will both enjoy and consider each other's pace.
Each of the locations is unique, but one thing they have in common is the beautiful surroundings.
All our climbing forests are located in real forests, where we do not use climbing poles. This gives you the best climbing experience! We build and maintain the routes ourselves and they are inspected externally for safety. Our staff is trained to give safety instructions and to give you the best experience. A day you will never forget!
