What happens in winter in the climbing forest anyway?

12 January 2023

From 30 December to spring break, our climbing forests are closed. But that does not mean we are sitting still! We are busy working so that we are ready for a new climbing season.

But WHAT exactly do we do during these weeks (and secretly during the rest of the winter too). Besides the logical things, like getting the website ready, printing and processing applications for the season, there is hard work in the woods.

Each year, a wish list/chores list is drawn up for each location, which includes maintenance of the equipment, checks of the climbing routes, renewal of the footpaths in the woods, major pruning work, but also major maintenance of climbing routes. At least two new routes are planned for 2023, but elements will also be adjusted and renewed.

And it's all done by our canny construction crew! They are out in the woods in all weathers, sun and rain, working really hard so that everything looks spic and span and completely safe from the spring holiday week onwards.

Each of the locations is unique, but one thing they have in common is the beautiful surroundings.

All our climbing forests are located in real forests, where we do not use climbing poles. This gives you the best climbing experience! We build and maintain the routes ourselves and they are inspected externally for safety. Our staff is trained to give safety instructions and to give you the best experience. A day you will never forget!
